Team PokerStars Pro’s Eugene Katchalov en Bertrand Grospelliermissen waarschijnlijk een groot deel van de WSOP. Katchalov doet mee aan eentv-show in de Oekraïne, terwijl Grospellier zonder paspoort zit. En ook handigom te weten voor ‘Elky’, als je dan je paspoort hebt, heb je nog een ID nodigwaarop ook je adres staat. En dat geldt dan weer voor iedereen die aan de WSOPgaat deelnemen!
Extra ID nodig bij WSOP
Iedere niet-Amerikaan die naar Vegas afreist voor de WSOP, heeft naast zijnpaspoort ook een tweede vorm van identiteitsbewijs nodig. Het gaat dan om eendocument waarop je adres staat. Tegen igaming vertelde WSOP-directeur SethPalansky hoe het zit: “It’s not the World Series of Poker that has put this rule inplace, this is part of a federal law strengthening process the government ofthe United States has put in place regarding money laundering. All companiesinvolved in big financial transactions received an e-mail about this last weekstating that an attempt should be made to verify residency of internationalcustomers.”
De wet is dus niet alleenvan toepassing op poker of casino’s, maar geldt voor alle bedrijven die temaken hebben met grote sommen geld: “We are very much aware of the fact thatnon-US ID cards and driver licenses don’t have address information, but thisfederal law wants us to be able to prove where someone is residing. So anyphone bill, gas bill, credit card bill, drivers license or rent statement wouldhelp with the identification process as long as it has your addressinformation. In the end, in order to get paid out, you need to proof some formof residency.”
Zorg dus dat je naast je paspoort een recent bewijs van adres bij jehebt zoals hierboven staat uitgelegd.
‘Elky’ heeft geen ID
Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier is met zijn hoofd nog niet bij het regelen van dattweede ID, de Team PokerStars Pro is druk bezig met het regelen van ID nummeréén, zijn paspoort! Hij twitterde gisteren dat hij vastzit in Parijs, omdatzijn paspoort werd gestolen in Toronto. De eerste afspraak voor een ‘emergencywork reason’ was pas mogelijk op… 20 juni! Dan is de WSOP al goed drie wekenbezig! Lelijk!
Katchalov in tv-show
Eugene Katchalov mist ook een groot deel van de WSOP, maar dan uit vrije wil. Hij is er de eerste week wel bij, maar moet daarna naar zijn geboorteland Oekraïne voor de opnames van een tv-show. Waar het precies om gaat, dat mag Katchalov niet zeggen: ‘
“I’ve been asked not totell which show it is, but I will be in the Ukraine taping for that show duringthe World Series of Poker. I think this TV showcould be a breakthrough for poker in the Ukraine, or at least that’s what Ihope. Poker in the Ukraine is growing and I can tell people enjoy the game alot. It certainly makes me happy that I can help promote the game. I think it will be fun and a uniqueexperience and as much as I like the World Series, and as much as I hatemissing it, it does take place every year. I’ll definitely be back in 2015.It’s okay to miss it one year because this could be quite a special experience.”
Er is een kleine kans dat Katchalov nog wel aan het Main Event zou kunnen deelnemen, dat hangt af van hoe vlot de opnames verlopen vermoeden wij. Als het zo doorgaat met afmeldingen voor de WSOP, dan wordt een bracelet winnen een makkie voor Ivey en Negreanu!
