Edgar Stuchly is de nieuwe president van de European Poker Tour. Dit kondigde Global Poker Tours Limited aan, de organisator achter de vele PokerStars-evenementen. Stuchly heeft ruim 20 jaar ervaring in de pokerbranche en was tot voor kort Head of Poker in Oostenrijk, waar hij de pokerrooms in 12 casino’s managede. Stuchly zal hét gezicht van de EPT gaan worden.
Voor zijn werk in Oostenrijk kreeg Stuchly veel lof toegezwaaid. In de vier jaar dat hij daar actief was coördineerde hij onder meer de European Poker Championships, zette hij de Casinos Austria Poker Tour (CAPT) op kreeg hij in 2009 de onderscheiding voor ‘Poker Staff Person of the Year’ voor zijn contributies aan de live poker industrie.
Stuchly was zeer content met zijn benoeming. ‘The EPT is the richest and most prestigious poker tour in Europe, and I’m delighted to be joining a much-loved and well-run live tour. The goal now is to take the EPT to another level, in terms of improving the experience for players and expanding the tour into burgeoning poker markets in Europe. It’s a big challenge but one that I’m relishing.’
John Duthie, de originele oprichter van de EPT, voegde er nog wat mooie woorden aan toe. ‘Edgars’ extensive live poker experience and vision for the EPT eased his appointment significantly. I’m sure that players, fans and anyone connected to the EPT will feel the benefits of his leadership over the coming months and years.’
Stuchly is zelf geen fervent pokeraar en heeft slechts twee officiële cashes op zijn naam staan. Opvallenderwijs komt eentje daarvan uit Nederland: tijdens de Master Classics of Poker van 2006 wist Stuchly 16e te worden in de €200 met rebuys. Hij mag overigens direct aan de slag, de eerstvolgende EPT is al op 27 augustus in Barcelona.
